Coronavirus, 56 tons of medical equipment from China arrived in Palermo

Surgical masks, latex gloves, protective screens, boots. And also protective suits, gowns, shoe covers, headphones and Ffp2 masks. A few hours ago, a new cargo flight from China landed at Palermo airport, with fifty-six tons of medical equipment purchased from the Sicilian Region on board, thanks to the collaboration with the UMPC of Pittsburgh, with which it manages the Ismett in the capital. Waiting for the flight - a Boeing 777 of the Qatar airways cargo, coming from the Asian country, after a stop in Doha - the regional health councilor Ruggero Razza, who also assisted the loading of all the goods on four trucks, bound for the warehouse of the regional civil protection, where, starting tomorrow, the devices will be sorted in the nine provinces of the island. «It is the result of an articulate and silent programming, conceived by President Musumeci and started more than a month ago», said commissioner Razza, to supply regularly. It is a great result because for months all the countries of the world have been looking for these things and are looking for them, all in the same place. The Sicilian Region has therefore shown that it has done better than others ". At the disposal of the President of the Region Nel Musumeci, the material will be distributed mainly in hospitals, but also among general practitioners, pediatricians, rest homes, residences for the elderly. A third flight is expected to arrive in the next few days, while the last part of the load, the more substantial one, will arrive by ship.
